我很小的时候就听老师讲过“战斗英雄邱少云的故事”。说是朝鲜战争时，志愿军向美军阵地进攻，然而一片开阔地和美军的机枪阵地阻碍了进路。志愿军派遣一支小部队隐藏在美军阵地附近的小树林，打算天黑后偷袭美军。美军也担心志愿军的偷袭，就在白天时向那片小树林打了许多燃烧弹，潜伏在小树林里的邱少云被烧着，然而他岿然不动，直到被烧死也没有暴露目标，美军由此认为小树林里没有人。当晚志愿军偷袭美军机枪阵地，大批部队则同时发动进攻，占领了美军阵地。对于这个故事的真伪性，现在有人争论，我这里只是用这个故事作为一个引子，讲述30年后发生的另外一个真实的故事。
1979年2月中越开战，中国撤军以前，所有与越南有争议的土地都在中方手下，其中包括后来很有名的法卡山。故而越军不断地向法卡山发动进攻，双方血战数载，死伤无数，直到1980年代中期，才逐渐停战。
越军进攻法卡山地区的一个山头时，就发生了一幕与邱少云非常相似的的故事，只是要把故事中的美军改为中国军队，把志愿军改为越南军队就行了。在那片小树林里被烧死的“越南的邱少云”有好几个人，致死没有暴露目标，中国军队由此认为那片小树林里没有伏兵，然而半夜时分突然遭到越军偷袭，机枪阵地失守，大批越军趁势进攻，中国阵地危在旦夕。由于现代通信技术的发达，后方司令部立刻知道了前方的危机。怎么办？派兵增援，来不及了，司令部下令开炮。八十年代的中国炮兵比五十年代的美军炮兵强大得多，发发炮弹，弹无虚发，使得任何活人都不可能逾越。几个钟头内发出的炮弹比上甘岭战役时美军打出的炮弹的总和都要多。越军大部队上不来，偷袭效果大减，阵地上的中国士兵缓过劲来，反而消灭了所有偷袭中国阵地的越军。
评论中越战争的所谓正义性如何，不是本文目的，这个故事只是想说明一个事实，那就是，战争中会出现勇敢顽强、不怕牺牲的肉体，与钢铁洪流之间的较量。
后记：2008年12月31日，中越签署边界条约，法卡山一半划归越南，一半归中国。整个中越陆地勘界工作长达18年，2009年春节前完成野外立碑。守卫法卡山数年之久的中国士兵们失声痛哭，怀念那些永远留在法卡山地区的牺牲战友。
